Just a little heads-up as we enter a relative dead-period before pitchers and catchers report to Goodyear. (Six days, folks!)

The Indians have picked up another reclamation project and potential option for the bench or “rotating DH,” first reported by Jerry Crasnick.

The former Florida/Miami Marlins first-rounder likely faces long odds for making the opening day roster when the team begins the regular season in Toronto, but he could be a quality addition if he can avoid the injury bug that has hounded him throughout his career.

His best stretch came in the 2007-09 seasons with the Marlins, where he posted an average slash line of .277/16 HRs/57 RBI. Since that time however, he’s added a handful of stickers to his luggage; bouncing around both leagues with stints in Boston, Oakland, Cincinnati and San Diego.
