Not so much of a surprise. After his latest meltdown last night against the Yankees, it was clear something had to be done. With an ERA over 7 (!!!!) in his last three excruciating starts, even the idea of pulling a “Giambi” was discussed if they didn’t find anything wrong. It goes without saying that the All-Star Break came at a good time.

As such, the transactional dominoes also fell. The Tribe brought up catcher Roberto Perez and bullpen lefty Nick Hagadone. Tyler Holt was optioned back to Columbus, and reliever Mark Lowe was designated for assignment.

I have no doubt masterson still has the stuff to pitch. Maybe we can sign him now for like 4 years. 25 million. Maybe then we can throw some money at a big slugger or a big name pitcher. Masterson has been solid all the way. The team shouldnt blow the guys confidence and rush him back.
