I posted this on my personal blog a few years ago, but figured following Omar Vizquel’s induction into the Indians Hall of Fame, it was a good time to share it with the IPL readers.

You may have seen these “trade trees” on other baseball blogs. It’s just a fun way to track how the dominoes fall after a trade. I created this one because it was the longest Indians trade tree I could find (1967 through 1993, spanning eight trades), but I’d love to know if someone can find a longer one…

Very cool. I thought we drafted Jay Bell for some reason. I found one with 8 trades that covers a longer time span. Check it out:

CLE drafts Buddy Bell in 1969; CLE trades Bell to TEX in 1978 for Toby Harrah; CLE trades Harrah to NYY in 1984 for George Frazier; CLE trades Frazier to CHC in 1984 for Joe Carter; CLE trades Carter to SD in 1989 for Carlos Baerga; CLE trades Baerga to NYM in 1996 for Jeff Kent; CLE trades Kent to SFG in 1996 for Matt Williams; CLE trades Williams to AZ in 1997 for Tom Martin and Travis Fryman; CLE trades Martin to NYM in 2001 for Javier Ochoa. 8 trades, 32 years.
