The Indians continue to issue non-roster invites to major league Spring Training. The latest free agents to sign minor league contracts with invites to the big party in Goodyear, Arizona, are RHP Scott Atchison, late of the Mets, and outfielder Jeff Francoeur, late of the Royals and Giants.

Francoeur is on the verge of 30 (his birthday is January 8). While his productivity has slipped the last two seasons, lifetime he’s hitting .263/.306/.419. And he adds another sorely needed right-handed bat to the lineup. Atchison, 37, has played with the Mariners, Giants, Red Sox, and Mets. He had a fabulous 2012 with the Red Sox, sporting a 1.58 ERA and .994 WHIP over 51.1 innings of relief, but a so-so 2013 with the Mets. Lifetime, he has a 3.64 ERA and a 1.235 WHIP. Hey, why not?

So far, the list of non-roster invitees to major league Spring Training camp includes:

Scott Atchison (RHP)

Tyler Cloyd (RHP)
