Danny Salazar takes on Bruce Chen in the series finale for the Indians and Royals.  Salazar is coming off a shortened start in Chicago, in which he pitched well but reached his pitch count, while Chen has had a solid year for Kansas City despite his recent rough outing against the Tigers.  This will be Salazar’s first time facing the Royals in his career.

There are a lot of Indians hitters that have not had much success against Chen this season.  Mike Aviles, Asdrubal Cabrera, Jason Kipnis, Ryan Raburn, Drew Stubbs, Yan Gomes and Michael Bourn are all hitless against him.  Santana is hitting .333/.333/.500 against him, and Nick Swisher is hitting .500/.500/.500 off of Chen.  The only other player to get a hit off of him this season is Michael Brantley, who is hitting .200/.333/.200 against Chen.

They may not have had much success against Chen, but I think this is the best lineup the Indians have.

A few days ago, I jokingly said that the Browns might be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs before the Indians are. Of course, that’s impossible – but they Browns just traded Trent Richardson for a draft pick. If trading your star running back for a draft pick isn’t giving up, I don’t know what is.

this inning should have been over if cabrera didn’t butcher the relay. 2 runs after that!!

What’s with the surprise, he’s a woeful defender.

That was an extremely disappointing series, on the heels of losing a series vs the Royals at home. The Indians did not play like a team who was on their way to the playoffs – they played like a team who was afraid of losing.

They are very fortunate to have the remaining schedule they do right now.

If I was a KC fan, I would be excited. Things are looking up for next year there. I think they have a legitimate shot and they certainly look better than the Indians.

Another must win series we didn’t win. We are running out of these!
