The Indians open up their final series against the Tigers this evening at Comerica Park, when Zach McAllister takes on Rick Porcello.  With the way the Indians have performed against Detroit this season, I’m not sorry to be seeing them for the last time.  The Indians need to avoid being swept yet again; it would be fabulous if they could actually win the series.

McAllister is coming off a good start against Minnesota last Saturday, when he gave up just 2 ER and 4 hits over 7.1 innings pitched, as the Tribe beat the Twins 7-2.  He has had his share of struggles against the Tigers this year (like the whole team, basically) in the two games he faced them.  In his first outing, back in May, he got the win as he allowed just 2 ER on 8 hits over 6 innings.  His other start wasn’t as sharp – he took the loss earlier this month as he gave up 5 ER as he walked 4 and gave up 4 hits over just 2.1 innings pitched.  After he was knocked out, Ryan Raburn eventually made his Indians pitching debut.

Porcello is coming off a solid outing against the New York Mets, where he gave up 3 ER on 4 hits over 7 innings pitched.  Even though Porcello has probably been the Tigers’ weakest starter this season, he’s had no problems shutting the Indians down.  He’s faced them three times this season, never surrendering more than 2 ER.  The last time they saw him, back on July 5, Porcello shut the Indians out and allowed just 5 hits, striking out 6 over 7 innings pitched.

The Indians need to finally figure out Porcello in order to win the series opener.  Use this thread to chat about the game.
