The Indians try to avoid the sweep tonight as Ubaldo Jimenez takes the mound against Kris Medlen for the Braves.  I knew that Wood and Medlen would be really tough, and I thought the Tribe’s best chance was last night against Paul Maholm.  I knew Atlanta was an extremely good team, and that they would be tough to beat.  I hoped the Indians would at least pull out one win of the three; to do so, the offense will have to try and wake up against Medlen.

Jimenez is coming off a decent start against Minnesota, where he gave up 2 ER and 5 hits in 6 innings pitched.  He took the loss as the Tribe fell 5-1, but it was a respectable outing.  You’re not going to win many games scoring just a run or two, which is what the Indians have seen so far this week.

I’m sitting here 1.30am watching this Groundhog Day performance and wondering why I can’t turn it off.

The moment the Braves scored more than 2 runs, this game was over.

i am convinced that if we have to tolerate him, cabrera should bat leadoff. his approach with no one on base is so shockingly and overtly different from his “hack at everything and inevitably pop out” approach when men are on.

Unfortunately have to agree. Don’t think it ever really helps but Van Burkleo might get his marching orders. There’s a malaise running through the whole team. Something needs to change fast.

So who is shutting us out this time? Oh, K. Medlen. Right.

this team may not win a game in the next week.

Would still have taken this record at the start of the year and playing meaningful games this late, but they’re absolutely maddening. Ubaldo pitches a blinder and they can’t give him anything.

    Come on McAllister tomorrow.

i said at outset we needed 2-3 wins in the ATL/DET stretch to have a shot at playoffs…so far zero tallied…a sweep is absolutely unacceptable…i dont want to hear about Atlanta is best in MLB, on the road, etc, etc…if you want to be in the playoffs you need to score more than 1 run a game….team ERA of ATL is 3.2….that’s nearly 10 runs over 3 games, against ALL competition….3 runs in 3 games from a so-called playoff contender is unacceptable….who the hell is standing up in the lockeroom and saying guys, grab your sac* and step up to the plate for goodness sake…sadly, no one.

Looks likely that Jason Kubel is coming from the Diamondbacks. He’s had a dire year through injury and slumps, so not sure how much help he’ll be.
