Tonight’s earlier matchup is a rematch of the Sunday, August 11 game between Justin Masterson and Jerome Williams.  This is a game that started out terribly for the Indians – Masterson was not at his best and the Angels jumped out to an early 5-0 lead.  I was actually at this game, and after the terrible week the Indians had, you just felt pretty defeated a few innings in.  The Indians mounted a comeback though, based off of home runs from Nick Swisher, Mike Aviles, and Carlos Santana.  Williams has struggled this year, but it took them several innings before they were able to figure him out and start scoring runs off of him.  He eventually surrendered 4 ER on just 4 hits over 5.2 innings pitched.  It was the only time in his career that he’s faced the Indians.

Masterson is coming off a solid start against Oakland, where he received absolutely no run support as the Indians stranded 13 runners on base.  As I mentioned, he was not sharp against the Angels during his last start, but he’s been solid against the Angels throughout his career – 3-0 with a 2.59 ERA.

The Indians will have an off day tomorrow, and will head home to play Minnesota this weekend.  Use this thread to chat about the series finale.
