Carlos Carrasco takes Scott Kazmir’s spot in the rotation and will square off against Kyle Gibson for the Twins. Gibson is coming off a win against the White Sox, where he allowed 3 ER on 4 hits over 5.2 innings pitched. This will be the first time the Indians face the 25-year-old right-handed rookie. Carrasco is coming off a solid bullpen performance from Friday night against the Angels, where he pitched 5 innings of scoreless ball, allowing 1 hit and 3 walks, striking out 4.

yeehaw
Carrasco was dominant Friday. At one point, he had 29 pitches with 21 of them being strikes. It’s funny because he was just called up that day and I was talking him up to my friend on our way to the game. Way to make me look good CC 2…….now let’s go TRIBE!
i can only be here for the first 20 mins…hopefully its worth it!
cabrera is out of the lineup!
thank god. now if we could just send him to lake county, i’d be happy.
How did Bourn get thrown out by THAT much? I’m starting to wonder if he’s lost a step.
shaky start by gibson…hopefully we take advantage
wow, already crapping the bed
Carrasco. Glad he’s here.
another double…third in 2 innings
the quicker the front office gives up on both chisenhall and carrasco, the better. they very simply are not good players.
5 hits allowed already…cmon carrasco! lets get the dp
and chisenhall gaffes it…
This Cookie is stale.
Chisenhall butchered the DP. Of course.
Carrasco is an idiot of a pitcher.
AVILES!
Bourn is Sizemore without the power. Making it hard to justify striking out as much as he does.
this was my primary complaint about him when we signed him (aside from the fact that his primary asset, his speed, is likely to degrade quickly later in the contract). having a no-power guy that doesn’t walk and strikes out a lot batting anywhere, much less the top of your lineup, is really frustrating.
Sizemore is making his comeback next year. we can get him back with a minor league contract. Might be good insurance!
With every start Carrasco has, the worse the Lee trade looks.
Such negativity. We are only down 2 runs
Which is a blessing in disguise all things considered.
touché, the twinkies have already pounded out like 10 hits.
Man, with the camera shot, I thought that was a gapper. Whew…
VanBurkleo has SERIOUS work to do with Santana right now. But Smooth picks him right up!
yeah man he’s looking worse and worse up there. It’s like he losing confidence by the second, which is what seemed to happen to Reynolds. It was like, one month he’s the hottest player in the AL (Reynolds) two months later he looks completely lost at the plate.
chip chip chipin away. Let’s go fella’s.
Justin Morneau has been put on waivers by the Twins. Should the Indians grab him now? I think you can get a discount on shipping if they get him before they leave town. 🙂
And Cabby continues to kill his trade value.
Oh hey look, Asdrubal didn’t get the job done. Again.
Whyyyyyy PH Cabrera in that situation? *bangs head on desk*
indeed. anyone who’s watched more than one tribe game this season knew how that was going to end.
Miggy with another 3 run jack… blah.
Rich Hill. Professional baseball player.
Francona’s obsession with guys he’s managed before and “proven veterans” is infuriating.
Does Francona have some problem recognizing when his relievers don’t have “it”. It seems like he always leaves his guys in until AFTER they give up a bunch of runs to pull them.
Time to call up Lindor.
SMOOTH!!!!
I haven’t even turned on the game yet. I thought i would read this and get caught up. Now, I’m not sure i want to turn the game on!
14 hits? How is that possible?
GIAMBINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Giambiiii!!
Don’t forget, Dirtbag deserves credit for busting his butt down the line. Now it’s IMPERATIVE for Shaw to put up a zero.
Morneau has been very charitable to the Indians in the last 10 minutes.
I am SICK of Clete Thomas.
OK, santana can play again!
but at first base.
SLAMTANA!!!!!!!!
This page would work better if it had an automatic refresh.
so is it Perez 2 days in a row?
I mean WILL Perez do it 2 days in a row?
uhh, that would be a no
I’m done with Perez.
truly! I mean a hit is one thing, but another HR? As he gives up another hit. I know, he’s tired. I’m tired of watching this crap!
21 blown saves? Imagine if we had half of those back. We need to win this quickly.
the more relevant stat would be how many of those games with blown saves were games that we lost. i mean, you could have 3 or 4 blown saves in a single game that you still ended up winning, so blown saves devoid of context isn’t very useful.
how is this for useful? The tribe has blown 41% of their save opportunities. That’s not good. That kills a bullpen. That leads to extra pitchers. That leads to tired arms. That leads to the tribe: 2013.
In all of baseball, only Arizona, Boston, Cubs and Houston are worse than us. Boston surprises me. But that’s a telling stat.
oh, i’m completely in agreement with you – the bullpen has been a disaster and it’s been horribly overworked. i’m just curious as to what our record is in games that featured a blown save.
I don’t know how to get that other than manually going through the games. It would be interesting.I bet they are under 500. well, it feels to me like they are under 500. I remember the pain! Being a tribe fan has never been easy!
twins have 17 hits. That’s a lot of hits.
OMG! Cabrera looks awful at the plate.
Is the hitting coach the problem? Or is it that he is not the solution? I bet he doesn’t sleep well these days.
Must. Execute.
Brantley comes through. nice job tribe! Now who pitches in the bottom half? Joe smith is the only one left.
someone on here once said we didnt deserve chris perez – i heartily agree.
I had to go to meetings and I left when we were 0-4… I come and resume and whoa!
Fun question…
Wild card game: who closes..
1 run up
2 runs up
3 runs up
3+ runs up
Win or go home…
I’d still go with a rested Perez, but that hook would be sooo quick.
i would only be comfortable with cp xxl if we were up a minimum of 2 runs…otherwise i think i would give allen the ball with one run…perez has many total earned runs while seeing 50 less batters
i would only be comfortable with cp xxl if we were up a minimum of 2 runs…otherwise i think i would give allen the ball with one run…perez has as many total earned runs while seeing 50 less batters
ABCP
I still stand by Chris Perez, its Joe Mauer and he had 5 hits today.
The game day thread is a hit. What a game! We really needed this series and the next 1 is even more crucial. Whatever happens w the Indians this yr, you gotta admit its been a fun summer!
stephanie, can i further my brainchild and request that we add auto-updating?? :):):)
furthermore…i think carrasco needs at least another season in columbus..he’s been used and abused like bauer did and i don’t think its healthy for his development
@peter – unforunately i can’t thread the conversation any further, but i went through every game to determine our record in games where we blew a save – surprisingly, it’s 11-8. we started the season by winning 5 of our blown save games straight, then losing the next 4, then more or less alternating after that.
great info!So how many extra pitchers or innings did we go? Don’t answer that!
Thanks for doing that.
