It’s time to share some upcoming baseball-related events in the Cleveland area, along with some Indians-related links.

On Saturday, December 3, the Wahoo Club will host their annual holiday party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven.  There will be a number of special guests in appearance, including reliever Josh Judy and former Tribe pitcher Len Barker.  For more information, and the reservation form, visit the Wahoo Club’s web site.

On Thursday, December 8, the Cleveland Blues vintage base ball club will host their annual winter fundraiser at the Clevelander on Huron Rd. downtown from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  Special guests include super fan John Adams and author Scott Longert and the admission fee provides free appetizers and drinks as well.  Cost is $20 in advance or $25 at the door; visit the Blues’ web site for more details and to purchase a ticket.

This is obviously a bit advance notice, but the Cleveland SABR chapter will meet in the basement media room at Progressive Field on Saturday, Feburary 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Even if you’re not a member of SABR, you’re still welcome to join our group’s largest meeting of the year.  The schedule isn’t finalized yet, but we typically have a number of research presentations from members, as well as several special guests.  For example, last year we had Indians Assistant General Manager Mike Chernoff and Sean Gibson, the great-grandson of Negro League legend Josh Gibson (and executive director of the Josh Gibson Foundation).  Save the date to join us on February 4 and I’ll share more details about the schedule once they’re available.

Chris Jaffe has a great Indians historical item at the Hardball Times that discusses the anniversary of the Joe Carter trade (among several other anniversaries).
