Well, now we know where Z-Mac’s control went.

Zach McAllister has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a finger sprain. Carlos Carrasco will get the call in a crucial game for the Tribe. Carrasco will pitch today and then drop his appeal immediately. He’ll serve his eight-game suspension without upsetting the rotation.

Hopefully Carrasco can keep himself in check if things start to snowball. Even more hopefully, he’ll help right a leaky ship.

Not only McAllister’s control/command, but his velocity too… He went from 92-95 to a guy who was topping out at 90.

With only Masterson and McAllister under contract next season (Ubaldo has a team option) its time for Carlos Carrasco to grab a spot in the rotation for good. He could go a long way with a solid effort this afternoon.

Carrasco lacked the control on the outside corner and his off-speed stuff wasn’t significant enough to fool anyone. With a heater that tops 95-96 on the radar, he needs to find a way to make hitters swing and miss.

Offensively, the entire team is passive at the plate. I understand you need to sit dead red on the first pitch of your at-bat, but they are getting into 0-2, 1-2 counts nearly every AB. That’s not a successful formula. Oh, and what the heck happened to Aviles’ swing? Stepping into the bucket…BIG TIME! I haven’t seen a MLB player do that…EVER!
