Once Bourn is on base, I presume the pitcher’s throw more fastballs in an attempt to prevent him from stealing.

So why not throw a few extra curve balls and slow stuff to Bourn since whenever he gets on base, that may not be the pitch of choice.

Question, can’t he learn to hit slow stuff better by seeing a ton of offspeed pitches during batting practice?

It does look like he can hit hangers a bit so he’s not completely pathetic.But let’s face it ,when you whiff 150 times in a season you’ve got a major hole in your swing somewhere.Hopefully as he ages he can become more selective and only swing at the breaking stuff when he has to.
