Kenny Lofton was the premier leadoff hitter in baseball for a decade, taking the torch from Ricky Henderson and (literally) running with it. He did things very few other players could do, with or without drugs. In an era when everyone and his juiced brother was mashing 40 home runs per year, he still changed the outcome of games and made all-star teams with his dominant play. I think it is a travesty that Kenny's accomplishments are so unappreciated by Hall voters. Instead of just not voting for the cheaters, how much more forceful a message could they have sent about the importance of integrity by electing a player like Lofton in their stead.

If you're a person who thinks Craig Biggio and Tim Raines deserve to get in, then you should also believe that Kenny Lofton deserves to get in. In fact, I'd call Lofton a better candidate than Biggio, and practically equal to Raines. For Lofton to not even get enough votes to stay on the ballot is just another example of how shallow the baseball "knowledge" of the Tea Party Uncle's Association of America is.

The whole thing is a sham anyway. It says a lot about the history of the game when a player is seemingly far more memorable and revered because he wasn't inducted.

I will always remember Kenny Lofton and what he did for the Cleveland Indians. Not just in 1995 when he scored from 2B on a passed ball in the ALCS but also for the spark he provided the team in the 2007 playoff run. And probably dozens of other memories!
