Choo looked absolutely awful last night - at the plate and in the field (where he usually looks okay, despite his poor offensive season). It was nice to see him put up some good numbers tonight. I knew when Durbin had 2 nice innings, that lightning probably wasn't likely to strike 3 times. Jody Gerut stopped by the STO broadcast booth and had some interesting things to say about Jimenez - basically when he was on, there's almost nobody better in baseball. The problem was the inconsistency...I think if he could get into a rhythm, it would be a nice boost to the rotation.

Brantley looked very solid since his return and Kipnis is back tomorrow!

Pomeranz:

The 21-year-old lefty was selected out of the University of Mississippi by the Indians with the fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft. He was 3-3 with a 1.98 ERA in 18 starts between the Indians' Class A and Double-A teams this summer.

choo's 2011 has been a bit of a nightmare....DWI (nice video), broken thumb & awful stats before that, strong arm in right but several missed balls he should get to, base running that is suspect at best.....he really needs to get his act together over the winter and come out blazing next year....i'm writing him off this year.

...and the very next day Pomeranz officially joins the Rockies. U needed to step up last night and deliver a win against the White Sox. Instead, throws over 100 pitches in less than 5 innings and pretty much stinks up the place. I am not feeling very well about this trade.
One positive from the game - Brantley back and gets three hits. Does Choo have a total of three hits yet since his return?

we battled, but this game brought a lot of bad feelings back for me....rather than list them all, let's just hit the 14th inning ones - Choo, you have to put the ball in play with man on 3rd and less than 2 outs....a K there is not acceptable...nor is not sending LaPorta on the base hit...yes, he's an elephant but you gotta take your chances late in a game like that.
Manny, you remain suspect in my opinion for your pitcing decisions....why the $*(% is 6 ERA Chad Durbin doing in there for a 3rd straight inning?...play the odds, if he's gone 2 innings with no runs statistics say he's due....esp when you've got a fresh Lefty (Huff) who's been warming up for 1+ innings!....and speaking of playing odds, can you explain to me why we let Righty Dubin pitch to 2 lefties and then bring in Huff for the right hander??...makes no sense in any calculus not to start Huff that inning....so instead you wait until 1st & 3rd and bring in a contact pitcher...huh?
lastly can't help myself, all the U lovers have a lot of 'splaining to do....first game jitters, bad defense, etc aside, the guy needs to deliver.
