This is what is super depressing about the whole thing - this is the list of this offseason's free agents: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/04/2013-mlb-free-agents.html

There is so little high quality talent on that list that will actually be available. (Ex. Napoli and Granderson's options will more than likely be picked up) Someone is going to wildly overpay for players that are simply "good." I really like Michael Bourn, but I cringe at the contract he'll likely end up with. Delmon Young will be available, but he's maddening...my friends that are Twins fans couldn't wait to be rid of him, and my Tigers fan friends can't wait for him to leave Detroit.

I would hope that if Choo and Perez do go, it's for a good return. I've gotten so negative though, that I automatically fear that any deal would somehow be massively screwed up.

Who do you like in the free agent list? I'm massively bogged down with the first week of school this week, but may have time to put some thoughts together next week on things we'd like to see this offseason.

And just remember - at least most of the journalists are financially compensated for covering the Indians. Bloggers like us are not...we do it because we love the team and pretty much out of the goodness of our hearts!

Wow. The last time I wrote a post, the Indians were above .500. Before I write what I have to say, I'm not sure why all the reporters have not gone on vacation. The Indians may be the most uneventful team to cover in the big leagues and the losing is beyond awful right now. With that being said, the fans have no choice but to look towards 2013.
Here are my recommendations for the 2012 season: All fans protest the failures of the front office and the ownership. I say we start an "Under 1,000 Campaign." This means attendance should be under 1,000 for a few remaining home games. If we can't make Dolan change his mind with anger, then maybe embarrassment might?

2013 Opinion:
1) Obtain the best young big league ready players in return for Choo and Chris Perez trades. Any hope of a Choo and Perez to the Angels for Trumbo?

2) Increase payroll to $75M to regain the trust in the fan base and also to create some excitement.

Stephanie- Let's post a 2012 free agent list and pinpoint the players we WANT, realistic targets, and overrated players.

Savvy, observant Tribe fans who followed the team from 1994 - 2001 recognize the qualities of a good team - a team with professional hitters, base runners and decent pitching/defense. Long time Tribe fans also easily recognize an average to below average team. Despite being in first place at the beginning of the season, we recognized that this team was not really a contender, that this team could not continue to win most of the 1 run low scoring games without true starting pitching studs. That being said, there is still a point to be made that fans should support their team even when they know they aren't that good.

Are you kidding? I'm one of those people. You said you don't live in cleveland so I guess you haven't noticed the first place indians in the begining of the season drew about 10 thousand a game. These people going purposly not going to the game are not the fans "want something to believe in". The fans the last two years haven't shown much intrest when the team was in first. The number of true diehard fans is not such a huge number. And I don't think a diehard fan would purposely not go to a game

For someone to say that the Cleveland Indians have horrible or classless fans is simply ignorant. The team didn't go from 455 sellouts to 7000 season ticket holders because there's something wrong with the fans. Yes, people have lost their jobs and moved away, but there are still plenty of people who are passionate about the Indians and want something, anything, to root for and believe in.

I mentioned that I didn't think it would ultimately do any good and wasn't likely to lead to lasting change or anything. Fans need an outlet though, they need a way to vent their frustration...I think it's just human nature to feel like you're doing *something* to help or to protest a situation that you're ultimately powerless to change. Like I said, I think it's a great opportunity for like minded (frustrated) fans to get together and watch a game together. I approach it more in that regard than the organizers might, but I'm not going to begrudge anyone's opinion on the current situation with the team. These losing streaks get pretty demoralizing.

Well the helping the businesses around the park is nice and if thats the reason good(Lebron leaving didnt help them either) but the idea of it coming from were gonna show the Dolans. You dont think the Dolans know there is a problem!! Thats a joke! They see the standings. By the way all profits from the team go back into the team. A big misconception with indians fans who blame the dolans for all their problems. They would obviously be much happier and doing much better with a winning team. For the first time ever im gonna say that god for Yankee fans because without them on a friday night (i was there) there would have been about 13-14 thousand fans. I know we lose. But the fact that your going to make a difference by not going to the game is ridiculous. And shows really little class from our fans
