I also said that keeping Sizemore and Carmona/Hernandez around was a good idea. I was obviously wrong about that one as well, but for some reason it doesn't sting as much. At the time, signing Sizemore and claiming Carmona/Hernandez's options both seemed to make sense - low risk, potentially high reward. Maybe it's because the Indians didn't specifically miss out on anything with that...more like they gambled and lost.

You never know what the second half will bring though. Burnett could get hurt (he already went down with one freak accident in spring training) or start to slide. Hafner may stay healthy the rest of the year. This is the first year in a while I don't have a great handle on what will happen. Because while I think this team may not have enough to put them over the top, I feel that way about pretty much every team in the central. One of them will have to win the division!

You know, you weren't the only one to feel so negatively about that potential trade. When the reports came out I felt the same exact way for the same exact reasons: It wasn't that I believed Hafner would regain the form he had 6 yrs ago (wow, it's really been that long), it was that I didn't believe Burnett had anything left. You couple that with the pre-season worries about the line-up and AT THE TIME the most logical opinion seemed to be to keep Hafner and steer clear of AJ.

And just think of all the bad/good fantasy baseball moves you did/didn't make.

This is why they make Paxil (or, in my day, quaaludes).

Given his history, Burnett was a deep gamble and it is still early July. Lance Lynn is 10-4 with the Cardinals. Think he wins 15?

How good would Josh Willingham have looked in LF if we gave him that 3d contract year)?

Crapshoot. And right now we're not getting enough of the shoot.
