I'm distressed no one waxed nostalgic for the abandoned musical abilities and superior trade value of Ben Broussard.

He not only landed us Choo but the Mariners flipped him for the immortal Tug Hulett. How many players can say that?

His one week a season rendition of I Am Babe Ruth is sorely missed.

LOL! The Mariners blogger told us he's been making tons of comments about "the look in players' eyes." No mention of grinding yet! Maybe he's decided to focus on his blinking full time.

That's a really nice story...I saw similar nice things from him. So friendly, would stop and talk to people in a very genuine way. Great human being, terrible manager as far as I'm concerned!

But I also must say Wedge was a class act with the fans. My sister in law has downs syndrome and after an Aeros game when he was manager her challenger league all got to bat and then had an on field autograph session with the players. Wedge couldn't have been more hospitable. He was talking to all the kids, signing anything he could get his hands on, posing for pics, yelling at the players to quit talking and start signing, just being an all around great guy. I'm glad he got another job and sincerely wish him well in Seattle.

Lol! My friend Dan and I have honed our Wedge impression over the years and it contains 3 elements: copious blinking, copious nicknames, and copious use of the terms grinding, grinder, and grind. Example : (begin rapid blinking) "Well you know, Shoppy is a grinder, you know (rub chin), he just shows up every day and just grinds. This whole season is a grind, you just gotta grind through it, Pronk, Vic, Shoppy, these guys all know that..." I work with Joe Inglett now and he has some classic Wedge stories! I guess he was not a Perralta fan at all. Too bad, I always liked Jhonny and wish he could have ground for us for many years to come. Turns out that Brandon Phillips guy had a little talent too.
