Need to weigh offense v defense. I think Lonnie's O will make up for any D lapses he may have. Cleveland is already going to have a hard enough time scoring runs, and can't afford to have a defensive specialist playing third.

Best case for third would be Hannahan and Lonnie split time. With Masterson and Lowe, we need defense which is unquestionably Hannahan. Those other two or three starts can be filled in with Lonnie which gives him some opportunity to further make his case. I wouldn't say based on last season that it was "case closed" for him or we wouldn't even be having this discussion. His bat was decent and his glove left much to be desired. Waste of a resigning if Hannahan isn't at least starting for our sinkerballers.

I would think Herrmann and Hagadone have the edge, but they're probably waiting to see if Dan Wheeler, Chris Ray, or one of those guys steps forward. I think it's Ray that has an opt out clause if he's not on the roster, so it's likely use him or lose him.

I saw one or two bits where someone spoke to Grady. So he's definitely there, but must not be participating in workouts yet. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing! They could just be easing him into things, or it could mean that he's not 100%.

Interesting that Hoynes' piece on the first day mentioned a 7 man bullpen with Hermann and TBD filling the last 2 spots but did not reference Hagadone. Columbus bound?

Also, this opens a 13th position player spot which bodes well for Chisenhall, Cunningham and Duncan. Grady was not on the list of those working out today . . .
