Never a big Sizemore fan. I always felt he was more of a #3 hitter than a leadoff hitter, kinda like Alfonso Soriano.

Any thoughts on the trade for Derek Lowe? I know we’re not giving up anything, but I can’t help feeling that we’re not really getting anything either.

Absolutely right move….we can still keep him but pay less….he just isnt worth that money in his current state….FYI, local paper here (Seattle Times) touting grady as a potential offseason FA pickup for M’s given his local roots (Everett, WA)….little factoid for you – grady was recruited to play RB at Univ of Washington….now that would have put some stress on his body!

Thanks for the link, Drew. I feel bad saying this is the right move because I believe in things like loyalty. At the same time, Sizemore’s body doesn’t seem to be able to withstand the level of abuse he subjected it to. It doesn’t mean he’s weak–he’s not. Bodies are weird things. You can be Steve Strasburg and hurt your arm your rookie season, or you can be Cal Ripkin and play 2,632 games in a row. Biology? Luck of the draw? Who knows?

I agree, this is the right move. He got hurt playing his butt off and giving it everything he had.
