I don’t think either will wait around forever, although I wonder if they made Alomar the bench coach to give him a bit more power with the team (and to make it a bit less easy to leave). (I say this, and watch him get hired somewhere else before this season even starts!)

He is one step away from managing the team and Many Acta is doing a pretty decent job. It seems like his career is limited with the Indians unless Manny gets fired. Personally, I would like to avoid the type of scenario that causes managerial musical chairs unless it is something like when the Indians dismissed Mike Hargrove – because he couldn’t win enough post season games. However, with Acta’s track record, Alomar is relegated to 2nd string for at least another few years in this organization. I cannot see him waiting that long.
