The Indians made a huge splash after tonight’s 2-0 loss against Houston.

The Indians have traded Trevor Bauer to the Reds in a monster deal that brought back Yasiel Puig and minor league pitcher Scott Moss from the Reds, as well as outfield slugger Franmil Reyes, lefty Logan Allen and utility-man Victor Nova from the Padres.

The Reds are sending outfielder Taylor Trammell to the Padres.

Suffice to say, it looks as if the Indians made out like complete and utter bandits in the deal, even if the headliners are essentially flipping headache for headache. (Bauer is always mercurial. And Puig was in the middle of yet another rumble between the Reds and Pirates tonight.)

The real jewel may be slugger Reyes, who was bombing the ball in San Diego to the tune of 27 homers in the not-at-all hitter-friendly Petco Park.

The Indians, wary of Bauer’s upcoming arbitration, knew they probably needed to flip him at some point. They did just that while still strengthening their playoff hopes of the present.

With the official deadline at 4 PM tomorrow, we’ll see if the Indians have any more magic up their sleeves.
