While they have successfully defended their American League Central Division Championship, the 2018 Cleveland Indians have been nothing if not inconsistent. Some of this has been due to real issues with the bullpen, as well as a variety of injuries that the team has had to overcome. Another reason has been the sort of malaise that can befall a team that knows its ticket to the playoffs is all but punched before the regular season even begins.

While the reasons for the Indians’ listless play are perfectly understandable, there is still no doubt that the team’s performance must change soon. Despite their status as A.L. Central Champions, the Tribe will enter the postseason with the worst record of any American League playoff team, and will be likely underdogs regardless of their matchup. Heading into the playoffs with some real momentum would be a big plus for Terry Francona and company.

So what better way to begin to build that momentum than with a victory over the Boston Red Sox? The Red Sox come into tonight’s game with the best record in baseball and a former Cy Young award winner on the mound in Rick Porcello. If the Indians and starter Mike Clevinger were to emerge victorious, that would be a significant feather in their caps.

No matter what happens, be sure to tune in tonight to cheer on the Tribe, and be sure to share your thoughts here at It’s Pronounced Lajaway!
