Having shut out the Kansas City Royals in each of the last two games, the Cleveland Indians look to finish off the sweep this afternoon at Progressive Field.
If they’re going to do that, the Tribe will need a bounce back performance from Carlos Carrasco. Cookie was lit up in his last start, allowing six runs in six and two-thirds innings against the Boston Red Sox. After a very good first half of the season, Carrasco has been a bit inconsistent since the All-Star Break. A string of solid starts as we head into the playoffs would be great to see.
Carrasco will also have a favorable matchup today, as the Royals will send rookie left-hander Eric Skoglund to the mound. Skoglund, who is making just his fourth start of the season, and first since June 9th, currently sports a 5.59 ERA and has lasted more than two innings in just one of his three starts at the Major League level. While the 24 year old may go on to a solid major league career, he simply isn’t ready to compete with the likes of Carrasco and the A.L. Central leading Indians.
