In need of offense and outfield help due to the injuries of Lonnie Chisenhall and Michael Brantley, the Indians swung a pretty big deal tonight by acquiring Jay Bruce.

The Indians will send pitching prospect Ryder Ryan to the Mets. The Indians will also pay the remaining $13 million(!!!) left on Bruce’s contract.

Bruce is enjoying a very solid year for the Mets, batting .256 with 29 homers and 75 RBI. Ryan was having a nondescript season in Lake County, going 3-4, with a 4.79 ERA.

This was the “BIG DEAL” that we were expecting last week that never came. It turns out that we were the impatient ones. The front office made another huge statement about this being the Indians’ championship window. Reports said that the Yankees were also in on Bruce, but did not want to take on the money.

It’s been a long time since the Yankees were taking the frugal route. So, we can lay the “DOLANZ CHEEP” memes to rest.

Remaining contract is like 4 mil. Not a huge investment especially if it helps get another World Series appearance (or victory) where you will make back that much in merchandise easily.
