Game 110 Open Thread: Rockies vs. Tribe

It’s been a long time! Miss me? No? Yeah, okay. I know y’all jus’ playin’.

Anyhoodee, the Good Guys look to start their August stretch of death with the second half of a split home-and-home with the Rockies. As you may recall, the Tribe’s two-day stay in Denver was not all that fun as they were swept. Hopefully, they can return the favor this time around.

Besides, what better way to kick off a series than with Corey Kluber, whom we’ve just kind of take for granted of how amazing he is at this point. We expect seven innings. We expect 10+ strikeouts. We expect his cutter/slider/witchcraft to make opposing batters look dumb. (I giggle at what he may do to former Indian Mark Reynolds.) We pretty much expect him to throw a perfect game every time out and we are somewhat disappointed it doesn’t happen. Well, except for Mr. Barker.

Point is, it’s always good to have a guy who tilts your odds heavily in your favor every five (or six) days. And with no off days for the rest of the month, we’re going to be relying heavily on the rotation. Time to kick it into high gear for the stretch run and put some distance between them and the Royals. And in case you were out being productive, or you were paying attention to the other people who live in your households that you have forgotten existed simply because it was an off-day, the Cardinals put a big 11-3 butt-whuppin’ on KC last night. The Tribe has a three-game cushion going into tonight’s play.

The Rockies themselves are right in the thick of the Wild Card chase as they try to keep pace with the the Diamondbacks. And there’s an added bonus tonight: We get to boo the holy heck out of The (new) Rockies Catcher Who Shall Forever Remain Unnamed. That’s always fun.
