I’m a little burned out after last night’s game, which actually felt like 3 or 4 different games jammed into one. But the Indians close out their series with the Red Sox tonight as Trevor Bauer takes the mound against Rick Porcello. Bauer stepped up big in his last start, and will need to again tonight to keep the Indians from being swept in Boston.
Porcello, coming off his Cy Young campaign, hasn’t had the greatest season in 2017. I honestly leaned toward Justin Verlander or Corey Kluber for the 2016 AL Cy Young, and I don’t think Porcello’s season was historically dominant or anything, so it’s not a huge surprise to me. The Indians haven’t won a regular season series in Boston since 2005, and that streak will continue after this year’s match-up. They could at least find a way to get one win before coming home for a tough four-game series with the New York Yankees.
