The Indians take on the Athletics again tonight, as they look to improve upon their Friday night performance when they were shut out on 4 hits. Corey Kluber has been plagued by poor run support over his past several starts, so it would be nice if the bats could come to life tonight.
For the A’s, 23-year-old Paul Blackburn will take the mound. The right-handed rookie has only thrown 13.2 innings in the majors thus far, and while he carries an 0.66 ERA, his xFIP is 5.44. He’s had just two starts since his major league call-up, July 1 against the Braves and July 6 against the Mariners. Drafted by the Cubs in the first round in 2012, Blackburn was flipped to Seattle last summer for Mike Montgomery, then flipped again during the offseason to Oakland for Danny Valencia.
Both lineups are unchanged from Friday night’s game.
