Kluber’s Clan

October 20, 2016

Sharing an Indians-related poem from Bardball.com as an introduction for those who might not be familiar with the site and/or all of the former English majors who waded through Coleridge’s Xanadu. You can read a bunch more poems about the Indians (and every other team) on Bardball. If you aren’t familiar with the site, it’s worth bookmarking. Why? Because baseball poetry is fun. And we need something to keep us occupied until the World Series starts on Tuesday.
Kluber’s Clan
By James Finn Garner

With apologies to Samuel Taylor Coleridge

In Canada did Kluber’s clan
A stately baseball dome lay waste
Where Molson’s had in rivers ran
Through taverns ‘cross the frozen land
. Now left a sour taste

But once before had Cleveland’s Merritt
Begun a game, yet they could bear it
With Miller near to pull his load
The ball did Crisp and Carlos paste
A gonfalon triumph on the road
And two decades of grief erased.
