Danny Salazar hasn’t been the same pitcher since the All Star break. After a disastrous performance Monday night, an MRI performed Tuesday morning revealed inflammation in his elbow.
The Indians hope to leave Monday night’s dumpster fire of a game behind them as Carlos Carrasco takes the hill against Kyle Gibson in game two of their series against the Twins. And speaking of Monday’s game, the Indians received a bit of good news in regards to Danny Salazar – the elbow pain he felt was just inflammation. With no actual damage to the elbow, he’s scheduled to miss a couple of weeks on the DL but will not require surgery. When Salazar made his debut in 2013, he had just returned from Tommy John surgery. So it’s a relief to hear that he won’t have to go back under the knife; hopefully the rest will help his diminished velocity and his numbers can return to pre-All Star break form. The Indians haven’t announced who will take his place in the rotation, but I prefer Mike Clevinger over Cody Anderson.
