Some news before the Tribe goes for its 15th in a row:

No one should be surprised that after playing 19 innings, including five by today’s scheduled starter Trevor Bauer, the Indians needed help from the minors. As a result, the team announced late Saturday the promotion of lefthander Shawn Morimando from AA Akron. The Indians, however, announced that Zach McAllister will start, making this a bullpen game. (An early edition of this story had speculated that Morimando would start).

Designated for assignment was Michael Martinez, who failed to get a bunt down in a key opportunity in Friday’s 19-inning game. Martinez has been a utility infielder/outfielder.

Morimando last pitched on Sunday for the RubberDucks, a 5-4 win over Richmond. He allowed only three hits and two runs and improved his record to 10-3.

I have seen Morimando pitch in Akron and consider him a crafty but not overpowering left-hander. His chances of winning are greatly improved when he avoids walks. He has walked 36 batters in 93 innings at AA this season. He has allowed five homers, striking out 73 and allowing 77 hits
