Good times in the Cleve!
In a rain-soaked evening, the Indians reclaimed first place in the AL Central with a 7-1 win over the defending champs. The third straight win over the Royals elevated the Tribe into first and brings them oh so close to a series sweep, which would be huge in terms of the season. Yes, it’s still early, but taking four of the 19 games they’ll play against the Royals all at once would really make a dent.
Mike Napoli homered, something he’s been known to do, and Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer, had three hits overall, and made a very impressive late-game play from short.
YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING! FRANCISCO LINDOR! WHAT A PLAY!

Give him all the Gold Gloves, please.
The night featured nice work from Josh Tomlin, who pitched six and a third and gave up just the one run; Ian Kennedy, the Royals’ starter, gave up five runs in his six innings and took the loss.
Until the sixth inning, this looked like a nail-biter of a contest, with the Indians holding on to a 1-0 lead; but they blew things open in the late game, and the Royals never put up much of a fight to get back in it.
Tomorrow has the chance to be a big day for Cleveland sports: the Indians could take a fourth straight game from the defending champs, and there’s something fairly big going on with a basketball team too…. As I argued earlier in this post: Good times in the Cleve!
