Carlos Carrasco takes the mound for the Tribe tonight, hoping to build upon a dominant outing against the Rays his last time out. Unfortunately, the Indians are at home—which is great for most players, but terrible news for Carrasco.

In 2015, Carrasco was nothing short of unwatchable in Progressive Field, going 5-8 with a 5.03 ERA.

Dating back to 2009, Carrasco is one of 169 pitchers who have made at least 40 starts in their home ballpark. Only 12 (the vast majority of whom are no longer in the majors, for obvious reasons) have a worse ERA than Carrasco’s career 4.70 mark in Progressive Field.

Unfortunately for the Tribe, the Mariners send lefty Wade Miley to the mound, which means it’s back to the bench for Tyler Naquin and Colin Cowgill takes his spot in the order and will play right field.

I’ve been mentioning this stat a lot this season, because I keep seeing people beg for Naquin to get a chance so we don’t have to watch Cowgill flounder at the plate. But yes, Naquin really is terrible against lefties. In his minor league career he’s a .247 hitter against lefties. Cowgill is a .267 career hitter against lefties—at the major league level.
