Remember a few years ago, when the Indians took a chance on Aaron Cunningham when they sent pitcher Cory Burns to the San Diego Padres? Cunningham, a former sixth round pick with the Chicago White Sox, was out of options and basically had to make the 2012 roster or risk exposure to waivers. After a “meh” performance in spring training, he still left camp with the major league club, where he proceeded to hit .175/.245/.247 over the course of 72 games. The Indians finally cut ties with Cunningham in late July, and that was the last time he saw major league action. He bounced around the organizations of the Rangers, Cubs and Diamondbacks, before the Diamondbacks cut him loose prior to the 2015 season. I’ve been complaining about additional outfield depth for 2016, but at least we’re not in a position where someone like Cunningham is playing for a roster spot.
Cunningham resurfaced today though, when Jason Kipnis plugged the former outfielder’s new furniture company on both Twitter and Instagram. From the photos provided, it actually looks quite nice. Let’s hope he has more success in the furniture business, than he did with the Indians.
