MLB announced its Gold Glove nominations on Thursday, naming the three finalists at each position.

Although the Indians defense was much improved this season, they were left without any nominees, extending their Gold Glove drought to seven years.

The Tribe hasn’t been represented among the Gold Glove winners since Grady Sizemore won in 2008.

Since the Gold Glove was created in 1957, this is now the second longest drought for the Tribe.

Between Rick Manning‘s victory in 1976 and Sandy Alomar Jr.’s win 1990, the Indians went 13 years without a Gold Glove winner, the longest stretch in team history.

Lonnie Chisenhall and Francisco Lindor are likely the Tribe’s best hopes to end the streak in 2016.

Despite limited time in the outfield, Chisenhall led all American League right fielders in Defensive Runs Saved at +11, and was named ESPN’s defensive player of the month in August.

Lindor also led the American League in Defensive Runs Saved at SS with 10, more than double the DRS total of the three nominees combined.

I think a full year from Yan Gomes will have a solid chance as well.
