Playoff hopes may be slim, but a convincing win over the Royals sure helps with the confidence.
Francisco Lindor went 3-4 with a home run and four RBI, one of his most impressive games in the big leagues.
Despite being the youngest player on the roster, over the past month it certainly feels as though Lindor has been carrying this team—both emotionally and athletically.
Since August 5, Lindor is batting .388 with a 1.026 OPS—ridiculous numbers for a 21-year-old shortstop.
But what has impressed me most is the way Lindor’s attitude seems to be infectious. It’s like he’s becoming the younger, more productive version of Nick Swisher.
You can’t watch Lindor and not smile, and his teammates seem to feel the same way.
I usually fill my recaps with stats, and there’s absolutely no way to back this up, but I do believe teams play better when they’re having fun. And even though this team will probably finish under .500 and at least five games out of the playoff picture, it’s clear that this team is enjoying the end of the season.
Just one of many reasons to be hopeful about 2016.
