Brewers FIThe last time the Indians played at home was on Thursday, August 13. THey lost to the Yankees that day, putting them at 53-59, with a winning percentaage of .469. They then embarked on an 11-game road trip, wherein they lost two out of three to the Twins and to the Red Sox before taking three out of four at Yankee Stadium and losing a makeup game to the Cubs. That gave them a 5-6 record for the trip, for a winning percentage of .454. Today they are back at home with a record of 58-66 and a winning percentage of .468. Talk about spinning one’s wheels.

It would have been nice if the Tribe could have won one or two more games on that road trip, because the 2015 Indians don’t seem to play well at Progressive Field. Their home record is 24-34, which is the worst home record in the major leagues. I suspect this is due largely to the fact that Indians starters often have a rocky first inning, putting the team in the hole before the offense comes to bat.

The home stand is a brief one, with two games with the Milwaukee Brewers and three games with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Tonight’s pitching matchup pits Wily Peralta against Josh Tomlin, both righties. Tomlin will be making his third start of 2015 tonight as he comes back from shoulder surgery in April. He pitched well in his previous two outings, and has a record of 1-1 and an ERA of 2.03.
