The Cleveland Indians return home tonight after a 3-2 road trip to take on their division rival Chicago White Sox. Both the Tribe and the White Sox had high hopes for themselves coming into this season, but both have disappointed. The Indians are currently fourth in the Central Division with a record of 45-48, while the White Sox are even worse with a record of 42-50.
Taking the mound for the Tribe is resident over-thinker Trevor Bauer. Bauer was roughed up in his first start after the All-Star Break, allowing five runs on seven hits in just four innings against the Cincinnati Reds. Overall though, Bauer has emerged as a solid starter this season with an 8-6 record to go along with a 4.03 ERA.
The White Sox counter with Jeff Samardzija, a pitcher whose name I have hated spelling ever since he was catching touchdown passes from Brady Quinn at Notre Dame. Samardzija sports similar numbers to Bauer with a 6-5 record and a 4.08 ERA. His name has been mentioned in trade rumors, and this could be his last start for the White Sox.
Will the Indians continue their slow crawl toward .500, or will the White Sox knock them down a peg? Stop by It’s Pronounced Lajaway tonight during the game and share your thoughts with us here!
