For those of you in the Cleveland area, here are a couple of upcoming events that may be of interest to you.
I will be speaking about my book, Integrating Cleveland Baseball: Media Activism, the Integration of the Indians, and the Demise of the Negro League Buckeyes at the Maltz Museum on Wednesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. (An off-day for the Cavs, even if the series goes seven games) Admission is $12, but only $6 if you’re a SABR member, or a member of the museum. Admission to the talk also gets you free admission to the Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American exhibit (which I strongly recommend seeing, even if you can’t make it on the 17th. It’s there all summer). Here’s a link with some more information…you may want to pre-register if you plan on going.
You’ve hopefully been following the Tribe Time Now podcasts, the joint effort between a number of Indians bloggers (including folks from IPL). The folks that organize the podcasts are organizing a Tweet-up on Saturday, July 11 at 5 p.m. at Hoopples Riverbed Cafe. From there, everyone will head over to the Indians vs. Athletics game. You don’t need to pre-register for the Tweet-up, but you should probably buy a district ticket for the game (since they tend to sell out on weekends). People will be hanging out at “The Corner” bar over at the ballpark. Here is a link with some more information.
I hope to see some of you at both of these events!
