Sandy Alomar has been here before. And so have we, as rumors of Alomar’s candidacy has been a hot topic in recent offseasons that makes for easy news items for when he finally gets hired. After spending the last several seasons as the bridesmaid in the search to be the captain of the team–including his own with the Francona era underway–it feels like it’s only a matter of “when” and no longer “if.”

The Indians legend is one again on the short-list of the Diamondbacks, along with at least six other candidates. The only other currently open job is with the Twins, but no word has been spoken of their candidates externally.

Terry Francona said said that “there are no changes planned” for the coaching staff (which means hitting coaches Ty VanBuerkeo and Matt Quatraro can continue to steal salaries for themselves, but I digress), but this could clearly change in the coming months.
