The Indians got a much-needed win as well as some much-needed help today. Kansas City lost. Oakland lost. Seattle lost. That’s really all you need to know.

The Tribe kept their flickering hopes alive for the Wild Card game behind another strong effort from both TJ House (5 INN/6 H/2ER/5 SO/1BB) and his bullpen buddies. Nick Hagadone gave up a relatively meaningless homer to Brian Dozier.

Yan Gomes supplied the game-winning hit, as well as his 20th homer of the year, a three-run shot. Mike Aviles tripled home a pair in the second inning, while Michael Bourn drove Aviles home with an infield single.

At this point, the details aren’t really important. Just get it done. With Kluber going tomorrow, the Indians have a chance to win the series leading into the final week of the regular season. That sets up a make-or-break series (for real, this time!) with the Royals. We’re not done yet.

W: TJ House (4-3); L: Trevor May (3-5); S: Marc Rzepczynski (1)
