This is gonna be short because I think I’m getting a cold and I feel like crap, and I’m still depressed that it’s too little, too late.

But the story here was (who else?) Corey Kluber, as he went his usual seven innings of superlative work while making the Astro bats (save for Jose Altuve, who became Houston’s new hit-king, breaking Craig Biggio’s record) look completely clueless. He gave up an first inning run, but then went into full KLUBOT mode and would have none of it.

Yan Gomes would supply the eventual game-winning hit with his 19th “Gomer” of the year. Bryan Shaw would have another rough outing, giving up a run in two-thirds of an inning, but Cody Allen worked a four-out save to wrap it up.

With the win, the Tribe managed to pick up ground in both the division and Wild Card race, but it’s really not worth taking about anymore. Let’s hope they make me look foolish.

W: Corey Kluber (16-9); L: Nick Tropeano (1-1); S: Cody Allen (21)

I hope Kluber is not another one year/every other year wonder like Masterson because he looks awesome as the number one pitcher we have always been looking for. These young pitchers give me hope for next year. But… somebody needs to catch the ball and somebody needs to hit the ball.

The thing is, Kluber had a pretty solid season last year too. If he stays healthy, I’d be surprised if he’s erratic. He has an easy to duplicate delivery (unlike Masterson) which allows him to consistently have good command – and he has electric stuff.
