It’s the Battle of the Trevors tonight, as Trevor Bauer (5-7, 4.10) goes up against Twin’s right-hander Trevor May (1-4, 9.38). Cleveland has six games remaining against Minnesota–this three-game series at home and then a three-game series in Minneapolis September 19-21. Bauer pitches well at home. He’s gone 4-2 with a 3.32 ERA (28 ER/76.0 IP) in 12 starts at Progressive Field this season. The Indians haven’t seen May yet–he’s only made five major league starts. Beating up on the new kid is acceptable.
In other news, the Indians sent Chris Dickerson outright to Triple-A Columbus, which had its season end last week. The move reduced Cleveland’s active roster to 34 players.
Note: The Indians and Royals will make up their rain-suspended game on Monday, September 22 at Progressive Field (the game was originally played at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City) before the two teams meet for their regularly scheduled game that evening. Gates will open at 5:00, and ticket holders for the originally scheduled 7:00 PM game on Sept. 22 can enter and watch the conclusion of the suspended game.
The game was called at the top of the 10th with the Indians ahead 4-2. All players used in the game to that point are unavailable. Kyle Crockett, who was announced as the Indians pitcher in the 10th inning before throwing a pitch, can pitch to start the 10th or he can be relieved by Tribe manager Terry Francona. Players added to the teams’ respective rosters after Aug. 31 can be used; those used and removed from original game (for example Tribe starter TJ House), cannot be used.
