At Sunday’s game, my friend and I were discussing the upcoming Battle of Ohio series.  He was trying to decide whether to attend either Monday or Tuesday night’s game, so I decided to check the pitching probables.  When I saw that tonight was Johnny Cueto against Josh Tomlin, I said “Uhhhh, perhaps you may want to consider Monday’s game.”  And that’s not to be a negative Nelly, or to hate on Josh Tomlin; it’s just acknowledgment that Cueto is one of the best pitchers in the NL, and Tomlin hasn’t really had a good start since his one-hit shutout of the Mariners on June 28.  Cueto has only surrendered four or more runs twice this year; on May 20 and June 6 he allowed six and four runs, respectively.  In his most recent start against the Marlins, Cueto allowed just 1 ER on 4 hits in 7 IP.  Alfredo Simon has had a great season, yet struggled against the Tribe last night.  Maybe we can cross our fingers and hope for the same against Johnny Cueto?  Maybe they should just start chanting his name, and hope for negative flashbacks to the 2013 Wild Card game?

i know i’m really biased here but if a ball comes out of your bullpen during play there should be some sort of penalty/reprimand

The game tapes of this game should be burnt immediately. Even when something good happens (Gomes’ double) Murphy gets thrown out because he mistakes an errant ball from the Reds bullpen as the live game ball. OIC. (Only In Cleveland)

I’m a big fan of the lil’ cowboy, but methinks Tomlin has run out of gas for the season. First full-season coming back from Tommy John, and he has hit the proverbial wall going roughly 90mph.
