No, not that kind of love. Today Jason Kipnis was named the American League Player of the Week (week ending July 20). It’s well deserved. Kipnis wet 5-for-15 with two homers, six RBI, four walks, and three runs scored to capture his third career Player of the Week honor. And he did it in only four games.  Among league leaders, Jason was first in RBI, tied for first in homers, tied for second in total bases (11) and was fifth in slugging percentage (.733).In 2013, Kipnis was named PoW on June 17th and July 1st. He’s the second Indians player to receive this honor; All-Star Michael Brantley was tabbed on June 16th.

Also, left-hander T.J. House was recalled from Short Season A Mahoning Valley today. He will start for the Indians tonight against the Twins. House spent 10 days in the minor leagues around the All-Star break. He made one start for Mahoning Valley, pitching 5.0 shutout innings with two hits, no walks, and four strikeouts on July 16th against Connecticut.  Let’s hope he does as well tonight. To make room on the roster, RHP Austin Adams was optioned to AAA Columbus.
