The Indians and Angels play the third of what was supposed to have been a four-game series against the Angels at Progressive Field this afternoon. Wednesday night’s game was postponed because of rain; the make-up date has not yet been rescheduled. Monday night’s win was the Tribe’s lone win again the Angels this season. So far, Cleveland is 1-4 against the LA Angels and have been outscored 31-15. Justin Masterson (4-5, 5.05) will still start for the Indians against left-hander C.J. Wilson (7-6, 3.50). You’ll recall that in Masterson’s last start, he went just 2.0 innings against Boston last Friday. It was just the third time in his career that Masterson failed to record more than 6 outs in a starting capacity. On the plus side, the Indians are 7-2 over the last 9 games Masterson has started against the Angels.

The big roster move of the day involved activating RHP ZACH McALLISTER from the DL. To make room on the roster, left-handed reliever Josh Outman was designated for assignment.

Indians’ starting lineup:
Bourn, CF
Cabrera, SS
Kipnis, 2B
Santana, 1B
Raburn, RF
Swisher, DH
Gomes, C
Chisenhall, 3B
Aviles, LF

Angels’ starting lineup:
Calhoun, RF
Trout, CF
Pujols, DH
Hamilton, LF
Aybar, SS
Kendrick, 2B
Ibanez, 1B
Freese, 3B
Conger, C

It’s a noon game. The rain has stopped and the sun is starting to come out. Skip out of work and head down to the Prog for the game.

Game Called. Upon the field of life
the darkness gathers far and wide,
the dream is done, the score is spun
that stands forever in the guide.
    Nor victory, nor yet defeat
is chalked against the players name.
But down the roll, the final scroll,
shows only how he played the game.

This was actually a four game series, the Indians take on the Angels tomorrow afternoon at 12:05. Tonight’s game will be made up later in the season.

  • Gvl Steve says:

Brantley’s out the rest of the week with a concussion, so rainouts are good right now.

    Post corrected and updated.

  • Gvl Steve says:

    1. Bad Masterson (again)
    2. No Brantley
    3. Lefty opposing starter
    It’d take a miracle.

  • The Doctor says:

i think it might be time to cut bait with raburn and eat the remaining money we owe him. he’s been worth -1.1 WAR this year and can’t do the only thing he was overpaid to do – hit lefties. if we want to compete down the stretch, we need to jettison him and giambi and acquire (or promote) some functional bench bats.

  • The Doctor says:

calling for a bunt in the third inning. you have got to be kidding me.

  • Jack Glasscock's Cup says:

I’m glad Scoscia didn’t challenge that pickoff attempt. Looked like Aviles’ futile bunt attempt caused him to interfere with the throw.

  • Jack Glasscock's Cup says:

thank the baseball gods for Josh Hamilton’s general lack of mental engagement.

  • The Doctor says:

swisher continues to look utterly lost at the plate.

  • Gvl Steve says:

Now that Pujols and Hamilton are having decent years for LAA and ARod is suspended without pay, is Swisher the most overpaid player in MLB?

  • Jack Glasscock's Cup says:

I take back everything I’ve said derogatorily about you, bro.

  • Nikki says:

    Well, how about that!

    Wow.
