Can the Cleveland Indians continue their dominance at home by beating the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Progressive Field this evening? The Indians go into tonight’s game with a home record of 22-11, the best such record in the major leagues. They’re currently riding a three-game winning streak.

Michael Brantley, who was injured while trying to break up a double play in last night’s game, was scratched from today’s starting lineup. It was reported that he is currently undergoing a checkup at the Cleveland Clinic, and will likely be out of uniform for today’s game no matter what. Ryan Raburn will take Brantley’s place in left field tonight. Let’s hope that Dr. Smooth is back in action for tomorrow night’s game.

Josh Tomlin will be the starting pitcher for the Tribe tonight. The Angels will counter with Matt Shoemaker. Both pitchers are righties.

Today’s starting lineups:

Angels

1. RF Kole Calhoun
2. CF Mike Trout
3. 1B Albert Pujols
4. DH Josh Hamilton
5. SS Erick Aybar
6. 2B Howie Kendrick
7. 3B David Freese
8. LF Raul Ibanez
9. C Hank Conger
P Matt Shoemaker

Indians

1. CF Michael Bourn
2. SS Asdrubal Cabrera
3. 2B Jason Kipnis
4. 1B Carlos Santana
5. 3B Lonnie Chisenhall
6. RF David Murphy
7. DH Nick Swisher
8. C Yan Gomes
9. LF Ryan Raburn
P Josh Tomlin

A side note: earlier today, the Boston Red Sox designated former Indian Grady Sizemore for assignment. Sizemore, who was sidelined for the 2012 and 2013 seasons due to injuries, hit only .216 with two homers and 15 RBI in 205 plate appearances this season for the Bosox. Boston must trade or release Sizemore within ten days.

glad to see swisher and raburn down in the cellar of the lineup where they belong.

I pray that somehow, someway we convince a team to take Nick Swisher off our hands this offseason…

      • Gvl Steve says:

Everyone was kissing Swisher’s ass after that home run, but for all his talk about being ready to come back and do this and that, he’s still hitting .200 with .600 OPS. And what’s with that haircut?

  • Vern Morrison says:

    Raburn. I fixed it.

  • Andy says:

I get it, Santana is hot (and I am one of his biggest supporters here), but he is not a #4 hitter. Come on Terry, bat him #2 where he belongs.

  • JimM. says:
