Today is Friday the 13th. It’s also a full moon. The next time these two events occur simultaneously will be August 13, 2049. There are lots of cool things about this date, and some of them even relate to baseball. Here’s what we have tonight: Justin Masterson (4-4, 4.61 ERA) vs. John Lackey (7-4, 3.18 ERA). Last time these two pitchers faced, June 2, Masterson kicked butt, going 7 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 4 walks, and striking out 10. Lineups were not available at the time of this writing (I’ll be away from the computer the rest of the day), but I’m not even that concerned. I know the Indians have lost 3 in a row. They have three more games left in this Boston series, and they’ve stunk up the joint on the road this season. But here’s the thing: the Indians have a habit of winning on Friday the 13th. I don’t know why or how, but see for yourself.
