Yes, they lost last night. No, it’s not the end of the world. That being said, the Indians really do need to win this afternoon’s match-up against the Royals, not only to keep their record above .500 but to keep the Royals at bay. The Tribe is still in 2nd place in the AL Central, 2.5 games behind Detroit. The Royals are 3.0 games. Coming out of this mini-series tied for second place is not an option. Trevor Bauer1-2, 4.08 ERA) goes up against Yardano Ventura (3-5, 3.41). They’re both very young pitchers who’ve had ups and downs. Bauer had a tough 2nd inning in his last start, allowing four runs, then retired 15 in a row without allowing a hit. Let’s hope we see more of that retiring 15 batters in a row without a hit stuff today.

Let the Airing of Grievances (or Celebration) begin below.

Thanks for posting the lineups, Vern. They weren’t available when I wrote the above this morning before work. Nice to see Chisenhall in the two-spot.

Man do they look flat. Typical day-game phone-in for the Tribe.

  • Goose says:

My lord, I’m seriously starting to wonder if Chisenhall will raise the average to .400 before he, you know, resembles a mortal again. Every game I assume he’s due for an off day, but it never happens.

The problem with our lineup, we can get bases loaded with no outs, and yet still not expect to score, because everyone who we can hope to get a hit is on base 🙁

  • Kevin says:

Question: Why did we change the lineup around after scoring 17 runs?

  • Sean Porter says:

I appreciate Giambi for the few memorable walk offs he had last year and his leadership to a relatively young team, but I hope his playing days are coming to an end with Swisher coming back tomorrow night.

I’m already somewhat dreading Swisher back in the lineup (please prove me wrong Nick!), but Giambi at this point is just taking up a roster space.
