I figured I’d post the open thread anyway, in case folks would like to chat.  The game has officially been called; the first home rain-out for Oakland since May 5, 1998.

It looks like they’ll play two tomorrow.

So far in the extremely young 2014 season, the Indians are 1-0.  Tonight, they square off against the Oakland Athletics for the second game of a three game series.  Corey Kluber will start for the Tribe, while former Indian Scott Kazmir will start for the A’s.  Kazmir had a solid spring – in 16.2 innings, he had a 1.62 ERA and a 0.960 WHIP.  Supposedly the weather in Oakland is iffy again tonight, although they think there may be a “window” in which they can play this evening.  If for some reason the game is rained out, there will be a split doubleheader tomorrow.  According to Francona, the games would take place tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.  Since I guess those times are Pacific, that means the games would be broadcast at 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. EST.  (Tomorrow’s game was originally scheduled for 3:35 p.m. anyway).

Here are tonight’s lineups (if there is a game):

Indians:

Asdrubal Cabrera, SS

Nick Swisher, 1B

Jason Kipnis, 2B

Carlos Santana, 3B

Ryan Raburn, DH (Remember that in 2013, Raburn excelled against left-handed pitching)

Michael Brantley, CF

Mike Aviles, LF

Yan Gomes, C

David Murphy, RF

Corey Kluber, P

Athletics:

Coco Crisp, CF

Josh Donaldson, 3B

Jed Lowrie, SS

Brandon Moss, 1B

Yoenis Cespedes, LF

Josh Reddick, RF

Alberto Callaspo, DH

Derek Norris, C

Eric Sogard, 2B

Scott Kazmir, P

With our luck, the Oakland Coliseum’s (I honestly don’t know what its called now, nor do I care) sewer system will blow up tomorrow… Can you say TRIPLE-HEADER THURSDAY? haha!

I contend that the remodeled Oakland park is the worst baseball park I’ve ever seen. Can anyone beat it?

I’ve never been to Oakland, but wrigley is a POS despite whatever nostalgia there is about the place. A few years back they had netting hanging up to catch falling pieces of the roof.

I saw the weather report Sunday night and fully expected last night’s game to be rained out. Once it was played I figured tonight would be fine. Now I’m missing baseball all the more after yesterday’s win.
