Tonight Scott Kazmir takes on Anibal Sanchez in game two of the Indians’ final series with Detroit. After a few rocky outings, Kazmir was solid in his last start against the Twins on August 25. The Indians made a lot of errors, and had trouble scoring runs, but Kazmir allowed just 1 ER on 7 hits over 6 innings. Sanchez is coming off a rare poor outing against Oakland on Monday night. To be fair, almost all of the Tigers’ starters struggled against the Athletics, but it was only the third time this year that Sanchez had surrendered 4 or more ER.
Kazmir only faced the Tigers once this year, on July 8 he allowed 2 ER on 4 hits in 5.2 innings pitched. The Indians have faced Sanchez twice and he was sharp both times – allowing just 1 ER and 2 ER respectively. In fact, when he faced the Indians on August 5, he struck out 11.
